The project applied RS, GIS, Drone Technology and ground truthing methodologies in watershed management.

Major activities included the following:

-Conduct initial map layout using existing GIS data and generate new data and map using Remote Sensing technology;

-Collection of field data necessary for monitoring app development;
-Field survey using Perimeter survey / Ground truthing and Drone survey of Mt. Apo Watershed rehabilitation areas;
-Data cleaning and processing;
-Final map lay-out, report and presentation

The project aims to demonstrate a methodology using RS, GIS, and ground survey to measure the actual area planted in 2009-2011 BINHI plantations in Negros Island Geothermal Business Unit (NIGBU).

Major activities included the following:

-Conduct initial map layout using existing NIGBU GIS data and generate new data and map using Remote Sensing technology;
-Collection of field data necessary for monitoring app development;
-Field survey using Perimeter survey / Ground truthing and Drone survey of NIGBU forest rehabilitation areas;
-Data cleaning and processing;
-Final map lay-out, report and presentation; and
-GIS and Drone capacity building training for NIGBU staff.

Biodiversity Monitoring System (BMS) using GIS and RS-Based Model for FCF Minerals, Nueva Vizcaya

Used quadcopter UAV to perform the task of capturing remotely sensed data to identify and visualize the two long-term ecological research plots for biodiversity monitoring within the mining claim. To determine the floristic composition of its project area and to be able to monitor their floral restoration efforts within the project area.

Spatial-based Carbon Stock Quantification and Accounting for FCF Minerals, Nueva Vizcaya

Estimate the total carbon stocks in Runruno Gold-Molybdenum Project site using a non-destructive modeling and allometric approach. The study utilized the Carbon Model provided by InVEST (Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Tradeoffs) v3.7.0 to estimate the carbon stocks of the Project site. InVEST is a suite of open-source tools used to map and value ecosystem services.

Vulnerability Assessment of Apo Reef Natural Park, Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro, MIMAROPA Region, Philippines

The project aimed to use GIS and Remote Sensing Technology to generate maps that can be used to identify areas with highest vulnerability to climate change, particularly to the hazard of coral bleaching. In support to this, the management concerns of the natural park were also included in the list of activities and was tackled through a Focus Group Discussion with ARNP stakeholders. Analysis results showed areas of the natural park that requires prioritization for protection and rehabilitation.

Aerial Survey and Processing using Remote Sensing and GIS for the Municipality of Tambulig, Zamboanga Del Sur

Provide updated GIS and RS data for the Municipality of Tambulig to be visualized thru map lay-out for their climate change adaptation projects. 

Existing GIS and RS data were gathered and transformed to standardized format for GIS analyses and map lay-out. Land cover classification was conducted to update the existing land cover map of the area using free satellite images. Flight missions were conducted in the identified key areas for the flood susceptible Barangays. Aerial images were processed and used as validation data for the updated land cover map as well as for better visualization of the affected areas.

Climate Risk Vulnerability Assessment (CRVA) of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Rizal

The project aimed to use GIS and Remote Sensing Technology to generate maps that can be used to identify areas with highest vulnerability to climate change, particularly to the hazard of coral bleaching.
